June 14, 2023 - Moderated by Meredith Benton.
Investors expect portfolio companies to establish and disclose effective policies to respect universally accepted human rights. Comprehensive human rights policies are especially important in the automotive industry which requires a large workforce and supply chain. An outlier in the industry, Rivian’s current human rights related policies do not include a commitment to international human rights standards. Amalgamated Bank and As You Sow filed a proposal to be voted on at Rivian’s June 21st AGM, requesting that the company adopt a human rights policy that commits to uphold the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) and the International Labour Organization’s Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (ILO Principles).
This webinar will focus on why Rivian investors would benefit from strong human rights policies as well as concerning reports of workplace issues that conflict with the UNGP and ILO Principles. Investors will hear firsthand reports from Rivian workers about health and safety problems and challenges to exercising their freedom of association rights.
Speakers include:
Two Rivian workers
Lyndsay Fritz, Amalgamated Bank
Ivan Frishberg, Amalgamated Bank
Meredith Benton, Whistle Stop Capital, will moderate
Please note, this event will be closed to the press.
